2006 Year in Review

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring…except the Meyers’ putting pen to paper to craft their Christmas letter. We have had an incredible year – one that will change our lives for the better in many ways. The biggest news of the year is that our first born will be coming along at the end of March. Affectionately called ‘Peanut’ for the moment, we don’t plan on learning the gender until that momentous day in late March.

Gretchen has been doing great throughout the pregnancy.
Whoever said that pregnancy was supposed to make a woman tired, clearly forgot to mention that to Gretchen. She has continued to make her weekly pilgrimage to Leeds, ensured that we continue to take advantage of our location, and generally kept our family on the straight and narrow. The only things that slow her down these days are stores with really cute baby clothes! Have you ever come across non-cute baby clothes? Exactly…

2006 was a pretty big year for Ryan. It started out a little shaky with him showing his age with some sports related injuries and some quality physio-therapy time. That did, however, free up some time for Ryan to utilize (finally!) his silver tongue, exceptionally average looks, and an unbelievable team to smash fundraising records at London Business School. He officially received his MBA in July and accepted a position with Avaya Communications in a rotational program that could have us traveling Europe for the next 2 years.

As for the future plans of the expanding Meyers’ clan, the goal is still to return to the US. We’ll have to see where Ryan’s program takes us (if anywhere other than London) but, we expect to be over in Europe for about 2 more years. We plan to continue to travel as best we can with little Peanut although probably in a little less frenzied way than our normal travel habits!

We have continued to be lucky to have lots of visitors. All we can say is, please keep ‘em coming! As if our smiling faces aren’t enough of an incentive, how about the phrase, ‘babysitters wanted?’

We wish you and your family the very best!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Love, Gretchen and Ryan
